Wedding Shuttles - From the Guests to the Hall
At a wedding, the shuttle is not only a way to get there - it determines whether guests arrive relaxed and on time for the ceremony, and whether everyone gets home safely after midnight. Here is what to plan when guests are coming from several cities.
Where the guests are coming from
Count how many guests come from each city or area, and use that to decide how many vehicles you need and how many pick-up points. A large group from the same town usually justifies its own vehicle, while scattered guests suit a single central pick-up point.
Arrival times and the ceremony
Guests need to arrive before the ceremony starts, not right on it. Set the estimated arrival time at the hall at least fifteen to thirty minutes before the chuppah, and add a margin for road traffic - especially on a holiday eve or a weekend.
The return at night
The return is the part that is easiest to forget. Agree on a clear pick-up time after the event, leave a little flexibility in case it runs late, and settle in advance how the driver's waiting time is calculated, so there are no surprises at the end of the night.
Coordinating with the hall
Let the hall know in advance that shuttles will be arriving, and find out where guests can be dropped off and where the vehicle can park during the event. It is also important to give the driver a contact person from the family or the hall who can be reached on the day.
What to settle in advance
- How many guests come from each pick-up point, and at what times
- An arrival time at the hall before the ceremony, with room for traffic
- The return time, and flexibility in case the event runs late
- The drop-off spot and parking at the hall
- A contact person on the day of the event, and a price that includes waiting time
A wedding shuttle that is planned properly is one the guests barely notice - they simply arrive, enjoy themselves and get home safely.
