Why Shuttle Prices Rise During the Holidays

As in many other fields, shuttle prices are seasonal - and during most holidays and peak periods, the price goes up. Here are the main reasons.

High demand during the intermediate holiday days

During Chol HaMoed Passover, for example (the intermediate days of the holiday, when many Israelis are on vacation), far more people go on trips - and some vehicles are already booked. On top of that, the roads are more crowded, driving hours stretch out in traffic, and wear on the vehicle increases accordingly - all of which is reflected in the final price.

Special days such as Purim and Lag BaOmer

On Purim, for example, there is especially high demand for night shuttles for groups - and some companies are also more cautious about the type of trip. On Lag BaOmer, demand for shuttles to the celebration at Mount Meron is especially high, both because independent access to the area is restricted and because the event lasts all night.

When you can actually find a good price

Not every special period is more expensive. At times when demand for shuttles is low - such as the days before Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur - shuttle companies are keen for work, and you can sometimes find prices that are better than usual.

Understanding what affects the price helps you plan ahead - and sometimes to choose a more flexible date or time, if possible, to save on the cost of the shuttle.
