Minibus, Midibus or Bus - Which Vehicle Fits Your Group
The choice of vehicle affects comfort, price and the planning of the whole trip. Here are a few simple rules to help you decide between a minibus, a midibus and a bus.
What is the difference between the vehicles
- Minibus - the smallest of the three. It usually suits small groups, such as a family, friends or a small team.
- Midibus - a mid-size vehicle. It suits a medium group that is too big for a minibus but too small for a full bus.
- Bus - the largest vehicle. It suits large groups, such as a big event, a class trip or employee shuttles.
The number of seats varies between vehicles and companies, so ask how many seats the specific vehicle you are offered has.
How to choose by type of trip
- A wedding or event - a minibus for a small group, a bus for a large one. See also a minibus for your wedding and guest shuttles.
- A trip - on a long trip, such as a trip to the north, also make sure of comfort, air conditioning and room for bags.
- Employee or school shuttles - a larger vehicle usually fits, and sometimes several vehicles depending on the pick-up points.
What else to check
- Working air conditioning and a clean, well-maintained vehicle
- Room for the group's bags and gear
- Accessibility, if there are passengers with limited mobility, older people or small children
- Whether the vehicle suits the roads you will travel, such as mountain roads or narrow streets
What to ask before booking
- How many seats the offered vehicle has, and whether there is comfortable room for everyone
- Whether the price depends on vehicle size, and how waiting time is calculated
- What happens if the number of passengers changes at the last minute
When in doubt, choose a vehicle slightly larger than the number of passengers - a comfortable ride is worth the difference.
